Poster Templates

Feel free to use any of the following poster templates (click to download):

You do not have to use these templates for your presentation, so feel free to get creative with your own poster design! See the University of Chicago page for color schemes and logos, as well as the Pritzker SoM Poster Preparation page for more design resources. For more information on how to create an effective poster, see the Tips and Tricks section below.

Poster Printing

There are several options available for poster printing. Whichever option you choose, make sure to leave enough time for the poster printing, as some businesses can take 1-3 business days to process your request. Please keep in mind that all posters should be H36″ x W48″ in size. However, if you wish to have your poster displayed in the Billings hallway following this poster session, your poster must be H30” x W42“ in size and have a horizontal layout.

We strongly recommend that you use the Booth School of Business – Poster & Banner Production services, as this will be the easiest strategy for payment purposes. Payment for poster printing will be done internally and there is no need to go through a reimbursement process. Details are below:

Location: Chicago Booth Harper Center; Room 108B

  • Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday: 8:30am-5:00pm

  • FAS Account Number: Please contact Brandy Tyrpin at btyrpin@uchicagomedicine.org for the FAS account number (NOTE: The FAS account is for PGY’s and fellows only. Faculty and other trainees will need to work with their respective mentors to cover poster printing costs.)

  • Submit copy jobs to copycenter@lists.chicagobooth.edu

    • In your email, include PDF file of poster, size specifications (H36″ x W48″ OR H30” x W42” with a horizontal layout if you wish to have your poster displayed in the Billings hallway), and attach the Account Charge Authorization form complete with your contact information, correct number of posters you will be printing out, and your signature

    • Orders will be completed within three business days (Note: Due to a potentially high volume of presenters utilizing this copy center, we strongly recommend you submit your poster for printing as early as possible to allow enough time for the job to finish. You may consider submitting it 4-5 days ahead of the poster session).

    • Once your order is ready, the copy center will email you a notification to pick-up your poster in person.

If you choose to not use the Booth Business Center, other options for poster printing include FedEx or PosterNerd. If you are a trainee, please coordinate with your faculty mentor regarding reimbursement.

FedEx Office – Print & Ship Center -1315 E. 57th Street – Chicago, IL 60637

PosterNerd – you may decide to print a poster with PosterNerd using the following directions, but be sure to check estimated shipping and delivery timelines:

Select “Print My Poster”

  1. Select “Glossy” or “Matte” Paper under media

  2. Select your poster size (standard size is H 36″ x W 48″ BUT posters must be H30” x W42” with a horizontal layout if you wish to have your poster displayed in the Billings hallway)

  4. Enter shipment and payment information

Poster Awards

Three poster awards will be given for the best poster among (1) Psychiatry Residents and Fellows (MD); (2) Psychology Interns and Postdoctoral Fellows (PhD); and (3) Research Staff and Students.  Posters are scored on the basis of (1) Significance and impact; (2) Innovation of research; (3) Quality and clarity of writing and figures; (4) Clarity of oral presentation; (5) Clinical and translational impact; and (6) Advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Tips and Tricks for Presenting a Research Poster

Even if you have presented a poster before, learning how to present a successful poster is an ongoing process. As seen here, keep the following in mind:

  • In general, your poster should include your title, authors, Background, Methods, and Results. You may add more sections if you’d like (e.g. Aims/Hypotheses, Conclusions, Future Directions), but the above categories should be the framework for a successful poster.

  • The poster design should allow the viewer to become quickly oriented to the research topic and results sections.

  • Bear in mind that attendees will most likely be viewing your poster from a few feet away as they pass by, meaning your lettering and figures should be large enough to be viewed from 3-5 feet away.
